Theme: “Leadership and Capacity building for Health Professions Education and Research in Africa.”

Background: African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth) is an initiative of MEPI/NEPI (Medical/Nursing Education Partnership Initiative).The AFREhealth 2017 Symposium Steering Committee is pleased to invite you to the AFREhealth 2017 Symposium. AFREhealth, is an interdisciplinary health professional forum which seeks to improve health care through research, education and capacity building. It was launched in August 2016 in Nairobi, Kenya. It is convening an African health professions education meeting for the first time this year. The objectives of the Symposium are to promote Health professional education and research, to promote linkages with health systems and other initiatives and to share experiences.

Symposium sub-themes

1.      Scaling up Health Professions Education in Africa

2.      Institutional capacity for supporting Research

3.      Health Workforce preparedness and effective response to HIV/AIDS and other disasters and epidemics

4.     The burden of Non Communicable Diseases in Africa

Symposium Formats

•          Keynote speakers under each theme

•          Plenary sessions

•          Workshops and breakout sessions

•          Posters (Maximum dimension (85cm by 100cm) summarizing the key issues to be carried to the symposium)
